My Mountain, My Time

No one can choose your mountain,
or tell you when to climb.
It's yours, and yours alone
to challenge
at your own pace
and time.

  2. Very apt, and well expressed. We all have our own mountains to climb, and sometimes no one, not our parents, friends or anybody else can help us climb a particular mountain. And the most daunting is when we cannot choose the 'when'.

  5. Thanks, folks, but neither the "poem" nor the picture are mine. Found the quote on Status Shuffle on Fb and I merely re-arranged it into metre. About the mountains, that's a metaphor for the decisions, challenges, goals, et al, that we all have to take up in life.

Interesting take that, dear diary, I was reading it as something very similar to a quote that I swore by in my teen-angst years :) The one that goes

You do your thing and I'll do my thing
I am not in this world to live up to your expectations
And you are not in this world to live up to mine.
You are you, and I am I,
And if by chance we meet, it's beautiful.
