The Japan theite blossoms look remarkably like Japanese cherry blossoms and they don't last very long either. I took these pictures last week and already they've disappeared, presumably to morph into fruit. I snapped the azaleas (2nd and 3rd last pics) on a wet rainy morning. Also called rhododendrons, they're abundant in the Himalayan foothills and at school in Darj, we had a lovely school song called The Singalila Song which went

ReplyDeleteLovely Spring Collection! The 'Japan theite' not just look like Japanese cherry blossoms but are Japanese cherry blossoms. Called 'sakura' by the Japs, they come in their thousands just to view the flowers when they are in bloom, which should be in another week or so. There is a park near the Indian Embassy in Tokyo famous for its sakura trees where people come in their thousands simply to see the sakura in bloom.
ReplyDeleteOh, they are cherry blossoms? That's great. And I seem to remember a song called Sakura Sakura from bygone days when we'd listen to the radio. Had no idea it meant these beautiful blossoms. I can only imagine how lovely they must look like in large clusters. Do snap some.

Yeah, flowers are beautiful, mesjay. Sometimes I think its only when you look at a lot of things in life through a third eye like photos or a video camera that you realise how lovely the world really is beacuase you tend to take them for granted when you see them with your own eyes.
